SF IT vBeers Broward
vBeers+ @ General Provision Downtown Ft. Lauderdale
Wednesday, July 10th, 2019: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
General Provision - Fort Lauderdale

Join us for the next vBeer+ South Florida. vBeers events happen four times a month on the first four Wednesdays. Check the vBeers page for the locations.

These informal networking/social events provide a relaxed environment to meet with other hands-on IT professionals and promote the growth of IT in South Florida.

I would like to invite local firms who are seeking new IT employees to sponsor a table which they will staff before or as part of the vBeers+.

These tables will be set up before the vBeers+. Job fair attendees and the hiring firms' representatives are encouraged to stay for the networking and talks.

In advance of the vBeers+, I will post a list of the positions that are available from the table sponsors.

I am now looking for sponsors to deliver short commercial talks during vBeers+. The idea is to describe an IT problem such that people will relate to it then briefly describe the sponsor's solution. Attendees will be able to visit the sponsor's table, after the presentations, to discuss the presented solution.

As I ramp up the sponsorships, the food and drinks will be covered by the sponsors.

If you are interested in sponsoring a table at the Job Fair and/or presenting a commercial solution, please email for details.

Discover Your Strengths - Morning Workshop on Friday, July 19th With Kelly Merbler
Friday, July 19th, 2019: 8:30 PM to 12:00 PM
Lynn University - Boca Raton

Join Kelly Merbler and her team member Marlena Coco, both Certified Gallup Strengths Coaches and Trainers for a powerful and engaging workshop.

This workshop is based on the #1 Wall Street Journal bestseller StrengthsFinder 2.0.

Did you know that only 30% of the American workforce goes to work each day feeling engaged in their jobs? According to Gallup research, that is the statistic that our workforce reported. Of the 70% of people who go to work each day feeling disengaged in what they are doing, most are not using the talents that they possess to do the job they for which they are being paid. This is costing companies millions of dollars and countless hours of time. It takes so long to hire great people but how do you retain them and keep them engaged in their jobs?

Donald Clifton the Founder of StrengthsFinders stated, "What will happen when we think about what is RIGHT with people rather than fixating on what is wrong with them?"

Join my workshop, 'Unleash Your Power & Discover Your Strengths' and you will gain access into how to develop and implement such a plan. This highly interactive session has been designed to deliver high performance results by identifying the natural talents and strengths of each employee which fosters a culture of engagement and retention. This program offers a personalized assessment to discover strengths and develops an action plan for application of those strengths.

"Good recruiters can help with talent acquisition. I help with talent activation so you can retain them." - Kelly Merbler

BocaJS - React Native - Learn why the Evergreen Companies chose it!
Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Cendyn Spaces - Boca Raton

Choosing the proper platform for mobile application development is critical to a company's ability to add and enhance features and meet market demands. The platform determines the portability of available development resources, the development workflow, and the long-term sustainability of the projects.

There are three categories of mobile apps that all have their pros and cons:

  • Native, ie. Swift, Kotlin
  • Cross-platform, ie. React Native, Xamarin
  • Hybrid, ie. Phone Gap, Ionic

This month we'll be without our main organizer (Damian Montero) which will be searching for himself in Machu Picchu, but I'm sure he'll find himself enough for the event at the end of the month (check our IoT event)

Mastering Web Menus - Learn to Code Effective Menus for multiple devices
Friday, July 5th, 2019: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
TechLaunch - Miami

An effective navigation design is crucial for a website. Without navigation, a site loses all sense of structure and organization. Navigation is the way to guide users through a website, so that they know how much content is available and where to find what they are looking for.

Navigation can be presented in many ways, from side bars to menus in the header or footer or in a fixed frame that stays present anywhere in a website, but the key of an effective navigation of a website is its structure and organization. The importance of a structured hierarchy is directly proportional to the amount of content of the website.
