Informal IT Networking Every Wednesday, Locations Vary

Join us for vBeersPlus at General Provision Downtown Ft. Lauderdale.

vBeers events happen four times a month on the first four Wednesdays. Check the meetup.com page for the locations.

vBeersPlus events adds sponsorships - recruitment, community, commercial

These informal networking/social events provide a relaxed environment to meet with other hands-on IT professionals and promote the growth of IT in South Florida.

I would like to invite local firms who are seeking new IT employees to sponsor a table which they will staff before or as part of the vBeersPlus.

These tables will be set up before the vBeersPlus. Job fair attendees and the hiring firms' representatives are encouraged to stay for the networking and talks.

In advance of the vBeersPlus, I will post a list of the positions that are available from the table sponsors.

I am now looking for sponsors to deliver short commercial talks during vBeersPlus. The idea is to describe an IT problem such that people will relate to it then briefly describe the sponsor's solution. Attendees will be able to visit the sponsor's table, after the presentations, to discuss the presented solution.

Food and drinks will be covered by the sponsors.

If you are interested in sponsoring a table at the Job Fair and/or presenting a commercial solution, please email sales@itnewsandevents.com or call/text Lauren McLaughlin for details at (954) 729 9130.

TEDxBocaRatonSalon: Theme: Communication Overload
Thursday, September 12th, 2019: 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Boca Raton Innovation Campus - Boca Raton

Thanks to digital devices, the world we live in is more connected than ever before. Every day is a constant juggling of googling, posting, tweeting, snapping, texting and/or emailing. In fact, the average adult spends more than 11-hours a day consuming media. Children and teens spend more than 7-hours a day looking at their screens; and every year that stat is rising. Research shows too much screen time can have lasting consequences on the brain.

With so much information at our fingertips 24/7, have we inadvertently created a society that is overworked and overwhelmed? Are we living in a generation that is addicted to communication? What are the implications and where do we go from here?

Join our group of curated experts September 12 at the Boca Raton Innovation Campus as they speak about Communication Overload, observations and implications.

The Reactive Code That Broke My Brain and Changed My Mind (in time for Combine!)
Thursday, September 5th, 2019: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
CIC - Miami

After almost five years of working with ReactiveCocoa and RxSwift, I still felt like reactive (Rx) programming had limited use in my work.

But with Swift and RxSwift maturing, I was looking for a way to try it more. This spring, a colleague and I decided to use it whole-heartedly on a project. We established some guidelines that led us to an extremely clean Model-View-ViewModel implementation with a declarative ViewController and stateless ViewModel. And when Apple announced Combine at WWDC this year, we were glad we did because this code will convert to SwiftUI/Combine more easily.
