SETC: Data Analytics: Understanding Where Your Energy is Used (Aug. 30th)
Tuesday, August 30th, 2022: 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM EDT
Climate change is already showing its impact across the globe, with extreme weather patterns and rising waters posing risks to people, animals, and all other life forms. And these dangers are only increasing in pace and scope. By 2026, climate-related weather events are expected to cost businesses 1.3 trillion dollars.

When it comes to the technology industry, is there anything we can do to lower the carbon footprint and reach net-zero? That's why the Sustainable EnterpriseTechnology Council was formed. What is the Sustainable Enterprise Technology Council?

Founded by BWG Connect and World Wide Technology, the Sustainable Enterprise Technology Council (SETC) is an organization on a mission to promote sustainability and reduce the carbon footprint of the enterprise technology industry.

The SETC aims to be a collaborative organization, bringing in various voices from companies big and small, creating a community to participate in building initiatives. The SETC preliminary topics include more efficient computing, data center design and retrofitting, site selection, efficient cooling, managing carbon credits, and renewable energy. According to Founding Partners Greg Irwin and Brendan Walsh, they want issues to be driven primarily by the community.

Attendees can expect to learn about:

  • Remote work policies that safeguard identity, access and user data.
  • Balancing user convenience against security policies that satisfy the "C" suite.

DARKReading: How Supply Chain Attacks Work - And What You Can Do to Stop Them (Aug. 17th)
Wednesday, August 17th, 2022: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM EDT
The headline-making attack against Solarwinds sent a shockwave through the world and had many security and business leaders reexamining the security of their own supply chains. In a supply chain - or third party - attack, criminals infiltrate and disrupt the computer systems of a company's key suppliers or vendors and, through this third-party access, are then able to breach other organizations associated with the initial target.

Attend this webinar and you'll learn about:

  • Assessing an organization's current software supply chain risk.
  • How Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs) fit into the future of supply chain security.
  • A few crucial best practices for preventing software supply chain attacks.
  • Accounting for flaws lurking in open-source repositories.

DARKReading: Ransomware Resilience and Response: The Next Generation (Aug. 18th)
Thursday, August 18th, 2022: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM EDT
When ransomware locks up your business's critical data and essential gear, there is no time to figure out what to do. There is only time to act - without panicking. That's why a good ransomware response playbook is essential: Do you know if this is a worm that is going to spread to other endpoints or is the attack contained. Do we have backups and how long will it take to get up and running? Should we pay the ransom - and do we even have the cryptocurrency on hand to pay with? Do we know what to do to ensure business continuity?

Code reading session
Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022: 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM EDT

There is a lot to be said about how to become a software developer, what languages to use, to get a degree in CS/SE, sign up for a boot camp or self-study via a MOOC course. One thing is similar in all those situations: a strong focus on creating code, very often 'green-field' code. This leads to the fact that developers are rarely well equipped to read code, even their own code, but especially code written by others. Code reading sessions are an initiative by PyLadies South Florida inspired by the Code Reading Club ( We meet every other month to read, analyze, and discuss code written by others.

What the Hell is Hybrid? Let's Navigate Agile Marketing!
Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022: 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM EDT
As we've evolved beyond software to a business agility world, adoption has been slow and painful outside of IT and most departments are decades behind their software counterparts.

In Marketing, we've been trying to implement agile with a "hybrid framework", but what the hell is hybrid? Nobody knows... As a marketing community, we knew there had to be a better way to implement agile. That's why a group of agile and marketing leaders iterated for months over the best ways to get agile to really resonate with marketers.

We knew we wanted a framework that was directly tied to the Agile Marketing Manifesto Values & Principles. Rather than being dogmatic, we wanted something simple, customizable and easy to implement.

We'll share with you the new Agile Marketing Navigator framework and why it's becoming the gold standard for agile marketing transformation.

SFTH: Agile Best Practices in a Hybrid World
Tuesday, August 16th, 2022: 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM EDT

The Agile Methodology has continued to change over the past three decades since it's initial inception. Created out of necessity due a lack of a better practice, digital transformation within companies, and the overall need to shorten the overall software development life cycle.

BUT. . .

Most agile best practices implemented within larger corporations were to shorten the time to release a new update, often 2 week sprints, but continuous delivery requires even more radical change. Most of the changes towards digital transformation and agile implementation were also in a standard in-office setting.

BUT. . .

The pandemic hit. It forced us to become more agile and innovative thinkers to get the job done in a non-typical work setting away from our colleagues, without the ability to just walk over and talk to a developer, without in person team meetings and often expecting shorter release times once again.
