Leveraging the Reframing Process to Resolve Conflict as an IT Leader

As IT Leaders, we can all remember when we went from a mostly hands-on technical position to a management position. It was an exciting time, until you ran up against the first workplace conflict that you were expected to resolve. It could have been between your team members, or a conflict you had with a peer. It might have been a conflict with your boss or another executive in your organization. Did you feel like you had the resources to appropriately handle the conflict?

In his book, 'Addressing Systemic Discrimination by Reframing the Problem', Dr. Frank Douglas presents the Reframing Process which arose from Dr. Douglas' need to deal with discrimination. However, the application of the Reframing Process goes beyond addressing discrimination and can be used to holistically address conflict.

The Reframing Process asks that we look beyond the specific conflict to really hear the grievance, to understand the environment and culture surrounding the conflict, determine if the organization has the capacity to resolve the conflict and agree on a realistic outcome. The Reframing Process accepts that sometimes the realistic outcome is walking away and how best to do that.

Please join us for an interactive workshop learning the Reframing Process from Dr. Douglas and having the opportunity to practice the process with real-life case studies submitted by your peers.
