SF IT Palm Beach Tech
Data Science for Data-Driven Targeted Marketing by Eugene Geis
Thursday, February 21th, 2019: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
1909 (FKA Palm Beach Tech Space)

The statistics of marketing is pretty straightforward, but working with 200 million people's data (a few thousand columns) is much more difficult. Predictive modeling is also pretty straightforward, but to build a process that goes from models to production requires significant development. Finally, pushing larger sample sizes, more sophistication, and new feature engineering into the process requires heavy computing and processing before modeling and in production.

I will expand upon the solutions that have given us a 2-hour production modeling process in a Windows environment where I'll mostly be referencing R & SQL Server, and a bit about our current projects that are enabling the vision for transforming our code into Hive, Spark, Python, and R so that we can scale our analytics from 10s of thousands of rows to 10s of millions of rows.

These relationships can provide clues to uncover and reveal tracks of malicious actors. Things such as chat room transcripts and forum data are used can be used to build graphical relationships.

This provides a context where it is possible to use machine learning algorithms to unmask relationships and profile users of these dark forums. Some of the methods used include Machine Learning Algorithms such as Googles PageRank. Once these users are profiled it is possible to predict behaviors, gaining further understanding of actors using these forums to obfuscate and evade attribution.

We are excited to announce our first event of 2019, which will be the first in a three-part series on Digital Marketing.

On February 20th, from 6:30-8:30pm, Tech Beach will be partnering with the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce's Tech Council to host an expert panel discussion to provide members with an introduction and overview of digital marketing topics and practices.

The moderated discussion will deliver insight into the rapidly-evolving world of digital marketing and how to leverage available tech to advance your business.
