The release of Gartner Magic Quadrants (MQs) became an annual rendez-vous many vendors are waiting for a few years, but it appears that many of them refused to participate. At the end, with players not listed, this report doesn't reflect the market but just a portion of it.
It explains why it has become less and less relevant as Gartner maintains some categories, classifications and even vendors remarks without considering progressive comments from various observers to make these MQs more aligned with the market, directions and trends.
A market reality is that unstructured data is covered by object and file storage solutions, no doubt about it. We also see some sort of multi-purpose platforms able to offer various interfaces and serve as a consolidation effort as well.
