Criminals Sending QR Codes In Phishing, Malware Campaigns

The Anti-Phishing Working Group observed how attackers are increasingly abusing QR codes to conduct phishing attacks or to trick users into downloading malware.
That email advertising a great deal on an inflatable pool to cool off with during this sweltering July may come with a nifty QR code to simplify the buying process. Or you find a QR code touting a special sale on fireworks for the holiday weekend. These QR codes look harmless, but attackers are increasingly using them for malicious purposes.
